It all started in 2007,the groom hunting process - horoscope matching, taking profile pictures, preparing bio-data, registering on marriage websites, booking the marriage brokers, attending Swayamwar.....
All these excited my parents but for me it was always a torture. :P Every time we gather for get together, the only hot topic was my "guy hunting”, I used to wonder why everyone was so interested in this. Anyway, I am now going to pen down some guys who were part of the "Pelli choopu" (girl seeing process) until the last pelli choopu which was with Arvind. :-)
1. The guy was from chickamangalur. He was like 32 years old and was into IT. As usual I was not very serious about all these and took it as a time pass.. :P
This was the 1st time, I had to dress up and stand in front of a family whom I have never seen before, evryone's eyes on me made me more conscious and uncomfortable.
The alliance got cancelled because his mom wanted someone from same town.
2. A family came down from Chennai. The family consisted of a Man, his 2 wives and 3 children. Yes,2 wives, we dint dig into the story too much, but very sweet of them to take part together. The groom had a thick mush, which was a big turn off for me..And he was into family business. We were all talking and getting to know the families. Finally the guy's parents had a sub meeting and they decided that it was a "yes" from them.
The guy asked me directly "do u like me?" :O I was so shocked and nervous.. I said it’s my parents wish.. :P
The alliance was rejected by me because the guy had big mush and looked old..
3. I can never forget this guy. This episode went on for 2 years almost. Horoscopes matched really well, so both the parents were looking forward to it. This time WE went to see the guy. I entered the house, smiled at everyone, said "hi" to the guy when introduced, but the guy replied "Namaste". He said he wanted to talk something personal. I pulled a long face and went up to his terrace. He spoke in pure Kannada which I hadn't heard for years. Finally it was a "yes" from both sides.
Next, it was time to discuss about dowry stuff. They demanded my dad for a house in Bangalore!!! I fought with my parents and somehow rejected the guy jus because he asked dowry.
After a year, his dad passed away, his mom approached us again and requested for marriage proceedings without any dowry but I wasn't ok with the guy. Somehow I dint feel he was the one.
So alliance cancelled. :)
4. His name was Padmanabhan, very thick Tamil accent, worked as something I don’t remember now. He looked very simple but ok. He was 31 yrs old and so I rejected him.
5. This guy was good looking, young and worked in some good company. He was tall and stylish. But they rejected me. K
6. Heard of Sathya Say Hospital at Whitefield? This guy did social service there. He was into IT but quit the job and started doing social service. I said no no no to this guy. Let him find a social worker, his life will be better. J
7. This alliance was strange. The guy had loved one Jain girl during college days and got married to her. Due to some reasons the marriage got annulled.
And this guy was working abroad now. Somehow this alliance dint appeal to me.
8. We met this guy in a hotel for breakfast. (The guy did not want to come home alone). We had matched horoscope, seen bio data but his mom’s name wasn’t there. During the conversation, my folks asked his mom’s name, he said Saina Begum. :O
I was eating my masala dosa and was engrossed into it, and was happy to hear his mom was not from our community. So alliance cancelled!! J
9. There was this really huge guy who came to see me with his mom. They were all happy and said yes to me. But we were not Ok because I was so tiny in front of him. His mom forced us so much and said she would send her son to gym and all. We dint take it forward. :P
10. We all went to Tamil Nadu to meet the guy and his Family. He was half bald and was working as a manager in a MNC. His mom saw me and told that I should not cut my hair after marriage and no modern clothes. I was cursing myself for going there. The alliance got cancelled because they thought Bangalore girls are too modern!! Good for me.
And 3 years passed by like this…one by one…rejecting me or me rejecting the guys…and finally my prince charming came to see me on January 26th,Its been exactly an year. After so many discussions, Family meetings, Confusions, Consultations, the 2 families were united by us.

Nice boy hunting history...Shortened to 11 small paras..
